Faith and Stewardship for our planet.

For the past two months, we've concentrated on energy issues pertaining to faith facilities and congregants' homes. In the DFW area, many residents contract with Oncor Energy (TXU) for the electricity. Oncor offers a Residential and Small Commercial Energy Efficiency Program which offers rebates for the installation of energy efficiency measures in residential consumer homes and small commercial business. Interfaith Stewards™ is a year-long project focusing on our relationship with the Earth and how to decrease our impact on the environment.

Through twelve modules, members of the faith-based community learn about:

• energy conservation 
• water conservation
• recycling
• composting
• landscaping
• green housekeeping
• renewable energy
• green living
  

The project also enlists benchmarking systems. It is designed to enlighten, educate and change the habits of not only congregants, but also those who oversee the church facilities and systems.
